Draw Final
On 2nd December, 2009, the Committee of the FIFA Organizing approved the procedure for the Final Draw. The seeding was based on the October by FIFA World Ranking and seven squads joined hosts South Africa since seeded teams for the Final Draw. The committee who also approved the composition of the other pots and the procedure for the final draw. Pot 2 was composed of teams from different area like Asia, Oceania, North and Central America and the Caribbean. Beside Pot 3 included teams from African and South America and Pot 4 had the remaining European teams.
The host, South Africa was automatically sited as Al. The other seeded teams were drawn into the other groups B-H but they were always in position 1 of their group which groups were drawn from A to H and the positions in the group were drawn for Pots 2 to 4. Geographical criteria which also were respected and it mean that no two teams from the same confederation were drawn in the same group. South Africa who can’t play the African teams from Pot 3 and Argentina and Brazil who also can’t be drawn against the three remaining South American teams. The first two African teams who drawn from Pot 3, placed with Argentina and Brazil. Likewise, hosts South Africa may not be paired with any of the other African nations.

The group draw which was staged in Cape Town, South Africa at 19:00 (UTC +2) (( the African central time)) on 4th December 2009 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The ceremony was presented by South African actress Charlize Theron who assisted by FIFA Secretary General Valcke. England football star David Beckham was drawn the balls and African sporting figures Haile Gebreselassie, John Smit, Makhaya Ntini, Matthew Booth and Simphiwe Dludlu.
