Qualified Team by the qualification

By qualification, South Africa qualified automatically as the host nation for the tournament. However South Africa participated in World Cup qualifiers as the CAF qualifiers also served and the qualifying tournament for the African Cup of Nations 2010. Since 1934, they were the first and foremost host who participate in the preliminary qualifying. The defending champions were not given an automatic berth as happened in the previous tournament and then Italy had to participate in qualification.

The qualification draw for the 2010 World Cup was held in Durban, South Africa on 25^th November, 2007.

It’s a first World Cup where any team does not include that are qualifying for the first time but while two of the qualifiers “Slovakia and Serbia” have beforehand appeared only as parts of former competing nations. Slovakia was beforehand part of Czechoslovakia and Serbia has competed as part of Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro. FIFA considers these teams to have retained the earlier nations’ records in both cases.

But between among these teams: France and the Republic of Ireland, Costa Rica and Uruguay and Egypt and Algeria were controversy surrounded final qualification matches and it was played in November 2009.
